As you all know, it doesn't look good. But let's give it some time. I think it would be too early to settle the bet. After the wedding, a few fights and all, boredom may start taking its toll and Kim might give us a KIMBURG. Not losing hope... yet.

In short, they are on a mission: get our national Kim to keep playing beyond 2007. They might go up to create the song hit of 2007 to convince her! The code word for this mission is "Kimburg".

For those who wouldn't know, Kim has announced a while ago already that this was a very last season - but she is still so young, and has such a tremendous potential! I think as well that all Belgians are sad about that decision and would love to see Kim play a bit longer.

Roeland Geladé: ‘Kim is nog te jong om te stoppen'

HASSELT - Kim Clijsters moet blijven tennissen, meent het duo Kimburg. Roeland Geladé en Gijs Ramboer van Radio 2 Limburg hopen dat straks heel het land die mening samen met hen deelt. Om Kim en België te overtuigen, brengt het duo een lied uit.

Achter het duo Kimburg schuilen Roeland Geladé en Gijs Ramboer van Radio 2 Limburg, beiden fan van Kim Clijsters. ‘We vinden dat Kim, onze heldin, nog veel te jong is om te stoppen met tennissen’, zeggen de twee. ‘Er moet een manier zijn om haar van gedacht te doen veranderen. Dat kan enkel als heel België eensgezind haar oproept om te blijven tennissen.’

De missie van het duo is dan ook om Kim te overtuigen te blijven tennissen. Ze gebruiken daarvoor een lied. Daarom wordt de tweede uitdaging om met dat lied de Radio 2 Zomerhit te halen. Hiervoor hebben de gasten een weddenschap afgesloten met Belle Perez die de laatste drie keer op rij de Zomerhit won.

‘We kunnen allebei van geen kanten zingen’, lacht Roeland. ‘We hebben dan ook de hulp ingeschakeld van een resem bekende en professionele mensen. Zo trekken we naar Miguel Wiels die ons zal helpen bij het schrijven van de muziek.

Rimpelrock

Elke stap van de twee mannen wordt in een reportage gegoten en is vanaf maandag elke avond in het programma avondpost te beluisteren. ‘Ons derde doel is een optreden op Rimpelrock. Tegen eind mei trekken we naar Chokri Mahassine. Dan zal ons lied zo bekend in de oren klinken, dat Chokri niet meer langs ons heen zal kunnen. We hebben hem nog niet op de hoogte gebracht.'

Gijs Ramboer en Roeland Geladé zijn er wel van overtuigd dat Kim overhalen de grootste uitdaging blijft. ‘We hebben haar nog niets verteld over ons initiatief. We willen haar verrassen. Het moet een emotioneel moment worden, zoals bij haar Belgisch afscheid op de Diamond Games in Antwerpen met de broers Wouters van Clouseau. Als straks tien miljoen Belgen mee bulderen met ons lied, moet dat toch iets doen met haar en wie weet verandert ze dan wel van gedacht.’
