I bet that it will snow on christmas day this year somewhere in the UK. The Met Office has a page dedicated to settling this bet: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk...
The last white christmas was only two years ago!

The pot will be split among the winners.
Very cool! Is that "father Perfect" on the picture?
Gotta go for the foolishly optimistic option :D
Hurrah for the foolishly optimistic team! Solidarity, brothers! It'll all wok out for the best.
(wim's going to clean up at this rate)
Some chance - it's not even snowing the Alps much to my disapointment.
Its not gonna happen people...although to be an official white christmas in England only a single snowflake has to fall on the weather tower in London... hmmm maybe i should change my bet!? ha
Ps.look at the link its hilarious...
I honestly don't care one way or the other... cool bet, though (especially if it snows :-)
From the Met Office: "However, the definition used most widely, notably by those placing and taking bets, is for a single snow flake (perhaps amongst a shower of rain and snow mixed) to be observed falling in the 24 hours of 25 December." A single snowflake? In the Hebrides, even?
There have traditionally been 8 stations around the UK (surprisingly few in the North East!) for monitoring whether there is snowfall and these are used for the bets.
This year they're apparently using more automatic sensors, as well as experts to decide whether any snow flakes fall.
I'm going to judge it following what the page in the description says. Looks like they check several stations around the UK, like Adam said.
The page in the description is giving a 404 for me.
Cripes. They've decided to take down the page. I'm sure they'll have something up by boxing day, though. If they don't, I'll look at bbc weather, then ladbrokes or william hill to decide it.
Grey christmas, more like it!
